If you still believe that President George W. Bush's plan to create personal accounts as an alternative to Social Security is a grand idea, just look at what happened at United Airlines. The magic of the marketplace won't look so magical to those whose pensions are slashed. It's a huge reason why a guaranteed benefit needs to be part of a menu of retirement options.
